Where GPS appears not to work on n82

I recently installed and tested the where software (from where.com) after upgrading the firmware on my n82 to version 3.0.  It never receives a GPS signal.  It just keeps asking me if I want to “Retry with GPS”.  I reinstalled the software to no avail.  Earthcomber gets a GPS signal right off the bat.  Other notes:

• n82 not listed as supported phone on the where website
• support technician told me to go to m.where.com to redownload the newest copy of where (the one I have installed is installed via Nokia downloads app).  I went to m.mobile from my phone and was directed to a web version of their software, no download.
• tried where with a “warm start” of GPS as outlined at http://groups.google.com/group/wheregps/browse_thread/thread/482d7fed692a0394
